Mark Inc. (“Mark,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Mark mobile application, website, connected reading device features, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our Services.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Account Information

When you create or use an account, we collect information such as your email address, authentication status, user ID, and related account information. Account registration and authentication may be provided through AWS Cognito.

User Content

When you use Mark, you may upload, create, or store content including bookmarks, links, notes, book information, collections, images, scans, audio recordings, and AI chat or assistant interactions. We use this content to provide app functionality such as syncing, search, organization, transcription, AI features, and content retrieval.

Device and Connected Device Information

When you connect a Mark device, we may collect Bluetooth-related information, connected device identifiers, firmware version, connection status, and diagnostic logs needed to pair, sync, troubleshoot, and improve device connectivity.

App, Usage, and Diagnostic Information

We may collect technical information such as app version, iOS version, device model, device identifiers, upload metrics, network type, file size, upload duration, HTTP status, crash reports, performance data, and error logs. We use this information to operate, debug, secure, and improve the Services.

Permissions

The App may request access to Bluetooth to connect to your Mark device, camera access to scan book barcodes or capture notes, and photo library access to sync reading photos. You can manage these permissions in your device settings.

How We Use Information

We use information toge your account;

  • provide syncing, note storage, bookmark management, search, AI, and device connectivity features;
  • process uploaded images, audio, notes, and other user content;
  • maintain the security and reliability of the Services;
  • diagnose bugs, crashes, connection issues, and performance problems;
  • respond to support requests;
  • comply with legal obligations.

AI Features

Mark may use self-hosted AI services to process user content such as notes, audio, images, book information, bookmarks, and chat messages in order to provide app features. We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Services, including:

  • AWS Cognito for authentication;
  • Sentry for crash reporting, error monitoring, and performance diagnostics;
  • Mark’s backend infrastructure for account, sync, storage, device, and app functionality;
  • Mark’s self-hosted AI infrastructure for AI-powered features.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Mark, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our agreements. User content and account information are generally retained while your account is active unless you delete the content or request account deletion.

Diagnostic logs and technical data may be retained for a limited period to maintain security, debug issues, and improve service reliability.

Account Deletion

You may delete your account in the App. You may also contact us at contact@thinkwithmark.com to request deletion of your account or personal information. Some information may be retained where required by law, for security, fraud prevention, backup integrity, or legitimate business purposes.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Transfers

We may process and store information in countries or regions other than where you live, including the United States and other locations where our service providers or infrastructure operate. We take steps designed to protect information in accordance with applicable law.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at contact@thinkwithmark.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain uses of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@thinkwithmark.com.

Residents of California, Canada, and other regions may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

Changes to This Policy
